Thanks for coming through! First things first, congrats on the release of your new project, “Phone Calls Gimme Anxiety”. How are you feeling about it ?

I’m feeling really good, been on a high lowkey. We worked on in for a while and listening to it for a long time before the release, so to hear it finally on Spotify, etc feels amazing.

“Phone Calls Gimme Anxiety” is a very real and relatable title. What’s the meaning behind it?

At the time I was starting to work on my next project I was gonna name it something else. But it was really when I got the call about losing my brother and just the stress, bad news I was receiving during that time period made me want to turn my phone off and just not talk to anyone. I always had a love hate relationship with the phone but during that time it made sense and the music followed that direction.

Music can be healing, spiritual, and an escape. It can actually be everything. In what ways has music been your therapy?

Literally in all 3 of those ways you mentioned forreal. Music for me is everything. Sometimes I like to think in silence but its certain feelings I don’t do the best of showing to people but I’ve always found it easier to express everything I’m feeling in a song. listening back after you vent and let yourself be free is the healing and the therapy for me.

What are some of your go to albums when you need a reset?

Damn that’s a good question lol. D'angelo Voodoo, Sounds of Blackness Evolution of Gospe!, of course Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, Stevie Wonder Innervisions.. yeah. I mean I listen to a lot of singles more than full albums lately cuz my attention span is insane, I'm everywhere but those are a couple joints that get the vibes up.

Take us back to the time you started writing rhymes. When did you know you had a gift and how has your artistry evolved over the years

I don't really know when exactly I had a gift, I think when I got older was like damn I might be aight. But lately I feel like it’s getting better, I want to get better, I want to learn more and that's it. Never really thought it was a gift really I just thought it was what I'm best at out of all the shit I tried so far lol maybe I’ll find a new talent soon.

Your visual branding and music videos are also top tier, not to mention very artistic. In what ways do you feel art and Hip Hop parallel each other

Well first off I appreciate that. And fa sho, I think art is almost apart of hip hop. The album covers, how the vinyl’s look, logos all that requires visual art to express the things the words can't. They help the music become something you can touch. Words can be art also. I look at poetry as art definitely.

Out of all of your years living, what is the best piece of advice you’ve gotten?

Honestly simple as keep going, and "if it doesn't challenge you it won't change you" was good.

What kind of legacy do you want to leave?

I want to leave good music, uplifting feel good shit. I want to bring all types of people together and put good energy in the world. Have a good time, inspire somebody, respect and take care of my people.

Who do you do it for?

I do it for my son, my sanity, the universe you feel me. People who goin thru life and growing, knowing we all different but all go through variations of the same things. The smokers of course and yeah.. the people man. Sunny for the people.
