Asad Ill Isn't Going Anywhere - 'F.W.D.F.M.P.D.P.T' Review
Asad isn’t done cementing his name down as one of the most consistent and prolific artists working today. “F.W.D.F.M.P.D.P.T (Fuck Who Feel Me Please Don’t Play This)” is an extended interlude into the thoughts and stories of Asad’s life. Using this project as an open letter to his doubters and sneaky businessmen. The album opens with the perfect, “I’m here” freestyle. Asad’s raps are more matter of fact, almost coming off as spoken word.
“Stress Go” is a great smoking song. The laid back track is sunny as Asad raps about his uphill battles and finding himself in his art. Stating he’s not content but blessed. Asad has huge aspirations for himself, his team, and his art, and this song is that anthem. Asad’s wordplay has always been top tier and it’s great to hear him implement his skills as an artist to blend in his talents with a “commercial sound.” “Last Thing I Do” can definitely be played in the club and played on the radio. This song perfectly combines great raps with an earworm hook and a groovy beat.
Asad’s strong suit is his inspirational raps. Reflecting on his troubles but remaining to keep his mindset positive, his songs come out as truly motivational. “All I Got” is the battery in your back. You play this in the morning to get your day started. This song continues to implement the fact that Asad will reach his goals, no matter what. “On The Go” is an interlude that’s too short in my opinion. This is the song you play when the check deposit hits. Asad raps like he’s crossed the finish line. He’s on top of the hill.
The outro is a somber track about wanting your goals and doing what’s necessary to get them accomplished. This has made Asad jaded with people. Working with people in this industry and dealing with bad business had forever shifted the way he views everything. ‘Life’s a battle but mostly within’ he raps. Focusing that energy on himself, Asad is continuing down his path on to greatness.
