Yonny Is Making Moves & Bringing Seattle with Him

For 24-year-old Yonatan “Yonny” Daniel, it goes way deeper than the music. It’s in his DNA. Proudly repping his hometown of Seattle, the rising rapper/songwriter is hitting his stride in record time. From early projects like Ghetto Sunset and "SK[I]NCARE" with Oble Reed, he’s leading a movement built on vision, solid ground, and love for his city.
Yonny’s work in elevating Seattle’s rich culture in real time serves as proof. From his Sounders FC x HOMETEAM campaign with Ken Griffey Jr. to sets at Wonderfront Fest, Capitol Hill Block Party, and features on Ebro Show and On The Radar, Yonny is kind of a big deal.
His story is one marked by pure DIY grit: working odd jobs and rapping while building a following off of the realness of his Seattle pride and Ethiopian heritage. His sophomore project Everywhere, But Always put him even more on the map, thanks to its realness and creative authenticity.
Earlier this month, Yonny returned home to headline an intimate live jazz performance in Seattle, celebrating the one-year anniversary of Everywhere, But Always (September 13th). Backed by a full band, the night underscored his commitment to the city that raised him and the community that fuels his art.
Now, he doubles back with the deluxe version of the project. With three news tracks, including collaborations with Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Ambré and acclaimed Seattle producer Sango (Drake, Frank Ocean, Bryson Tiller), Yonny delivers the definitive version of the album that’s shaping the next chapter of Seattle rap, while staying true to his vision of forging a timeless sound that resonates beyond the 206.
