Despite experiencing a quite challenging childhood in foster care and group homes, JP Cali Smoov emerged victorious, inspiring others to never let circumstance hold them back from living life at its highest level. A natural-born champion, he has had a well-documented run, winning Snoop Dogg’s battle rap series, as well as Hitman Holla’s reality battle rap series. Fresh off the release of a new album, “Cry Baby”, 2026 is set to be a breakout year for JP Cali Smoov. Called his most cohesive, versatile, and cinematic project since stepping on the scene, Cry Baby is a genre-blending project that was inspired by the classic 90s film/play of the same name. A potent blend of old school greaser energy and new school Hip Hop innovation, the album tells the story of a modern-day greaser navigating life, culture, and self-expression in today’s world.
The project’s production was kept strictly West Coast, featuring the work of several LA-based producers like DJ Fraze One, Marzetti, LiD, Cruisee Corleon, and others who helped shape its unique and full-bodied sonic identity. Contributions from Louis King, Tay Walker, Sycksyllables, and Taylor Gang’s Young Deji (just to name a few), round out the experience without taking away from the album’s core message of identity, resilience, nostalgia, and modern rebellion.
