J. Stalin: 'Tears of Joy 2' (Album Review)

Dog, IDGAF ABOUT WHAT’S ON THE RADIO.  J. Stalin’s 'Tears of Joy 2' slaps harder than yo’ momma after you act up the whole day at the mall. I found myself highly frustrated looking for something new to bump to and write about. DING! Spotify came through clutch as usual.

Stalin gives us nothing less than quality street music (shoutout to DJ Drama for compiling that phrase.) What I admire about J is his approach. His struggle and his voice flow smooth together. He keeps it G, talks his s*** over beats dudes wouldn’t know how to flex on - without using the same flows everyone abuses today if they did. Take it personal.

"Punishment" is my mood all summer 2018. “Don’t got time if you don’t got no money b****, you can’t f*** me for free b****, you ugly b****.” Salsalino raps on the hook then the Bay Area legend, Too Short shows he ain’t ever gone stop the frigid pimpin’ with straight heat on his verse. It could honestly be my favorite Short verse since his joint on Dom’s classic Yellow Album. "Tempo Slo" is STUPID. DUMB. RETARDED. Stalin stretches his vocals out for us on the slow paced track while the production sequence entices us with a mellow feel. Death to whoever doesn’t recognize how genius that hook-to-verse transformation is. It’s that serious.

"Enough Money" is another banger where Stalin remembers his Dope-Boy days and reminds us he doesn’t need a feature to shine. Yeah J, I’m listening. From what I hear, the Oakland hero isn’t hitting the breaks anytime soon…and I most definitely am not mad about it. Check out "Tears of Joy 2" above.
