When did you know music was your thing?

I knew music was my thing at a very young age because my mom was an artist and she would always bring me and my little sister to the studio and we would watch her record and just be in the whole environment so naturally growing up I just had an affinity to it and I loved just all types of music.

I was heavily into OutKast, The Neptunes, R&B and just soulful, substantial music. I was always watching music videos and making up dances, and everything performance arts related. It was definitely apart of me and is the foundation of why I wanted to be in the entertainment industry.

What made you make the jump from DJ to artist?

I started DJing when I was a freshman in college in 2015... I downloaded this free DJ software and started creating mixes and ultimately grew a passion for it. When I moved to LA at the beginning of 2018, me and a friend of mine started off making a collab project and I knew that being an artist was the right role for me because I had recently transitioned from being an artist manager in 2017 and it was a dope position to be in, but it was more misses than hits for me.

When I actually got in the studio this year and started creating music, it was so natural to me and experiencing that and getting so much good feedback changed my whole outlook on what I wanted my role to be and I just trusted that Divine guidance and have been Ash Allure ever since.

Who’s got a spot in your current rotation these days?

My music playlist is definitely all over the place. Lol. But, ultimately I listen to current music. But, I also like to blend classics and really just overall great music. I feel like in Hip Hop right now especially it’s a lot of microwave rap, so I try to put my ear towards artists that are creating substance and being more experimental and have a message behind their music.

What’s your new genre “Frequency Trap” about?

Frequency Trap is a representation of duality and how you don’t have to be more Yin (substance/message driven) or be more Yang (club hits/party music) but you can be both and make it commercial. The auditorial embodiment of fluidity.

You do it for your tribe, aka Allurians. What’s 1 thing you want them to always remember?

My Allurians :) the biggest thing I want them to always remember is to be 110% unashamed of who they are at all times... that at any given moment they can get out of whatever circumstance they’re in and change their life completely by just looking in the mirror and telling themselves that. If they don’t want to be in a certain situation or have a certain mindset they can change that and literally be whoever they want to be at any given time.

Also, to tap into the most unique thing about them and follow that..whatever that is...because that unique quality will propel them to their purpose and trusting that is a token of bravery and because of that you could never fall on your face.

Also, that is why I made the Peacock emoji the Ash Allure emoji because the Peacock is one of the most mystique creatures and they have a lot of Phoenix qualities about them and I think that is who I am; a phoenix.

I’m always dying and rebirthing myself and steadily rising from the ashes and that is why the Peacock represents me and my Allurians. I always want them to feel like they can rise from the ashes and be damn good at whatever the f*** they do, cause can’t nobody do them better than them. Lol
