Tyme Journey - A Powerful Force for Hip Hop’s Future

 

Multi-hyphenate film maker, content creator, entrepreneur, and celebrity kid, Tyme Journey is keeping Hip Hop’s roots alive with her own unique twist. The daughter of Hip Hop royalty, KRS-ONE and GSimone, Tyme cites her upbringing being instrumental in her being a quick learner and adept problem solver. All valuable gifts in today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world.

Aside from hosting the House Of Legacy podcast, where she and her guests share their experiences being celebrity kids, Tyme Journey is also the founder of BDP.ONE, a streetwear brand that supports the next generation of real Hip Hop. With her passions including film, fashion business, and design, the Burbank, CA native is intent on remaining unbound and limitless, not limiting herself to just one field. Add that to her unwavering self-belief, strong work ethic, and extensive experience that shaped her skills and built her confidence, and you get Tyme Journey: a powerful force for Hip Hop’s future

Tyme Journey began her career in the film industry as a photographer, after discovering her gift of photography while she was traveling in Berlin, Germany at the age of 14. It was after then, she would utilize off-days from touring to capture the beautiful landscapes of popular destinations like New York, Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam, and London. This led Tyme to begin working on various projects, including reality shows, documentaries, television shows, music videos, and feature films before bringing her own vision to life.

In 2019, Tyme Journey was inspired to expand her creative vision into screenwriting and filmmaking, leading her to write, produce, direct, and edit her first short film "Save The Studio," which was a complete one-woman show. “Save The Studio” is a collaborative project between her Tyme and her father, KRS-ONE. The main goal was to inspire both engineers and creatives to never give up, even when their back is against the wall.” and “Knock Em Out.

After releasing “Save The Studio”, Tyme focused on creating more content centered around Hip Hop lifestyle, most recently The House Of Legacy podcast. In its second season, the podcast fills a void in media by telling the unique and authentic stories of Hip Hop celebrity kids, including her own experience. Notable guest from Season 2 include Taniqua Jones, the daughter of Ol’ Dirty Bastard and Robert "Big Rob" Simon, the son of Kool DJ Red Alert.

Aside from having the media and film fields under her belt, Tyme Journey is also the founder of BDP.ONE, a streetwear brand inspired by her legacy and love for fashion. Having been assigned the responsibility of product management (“merch girl”) for the family business by her parents when she was 8, worldwide tours became her entire childhood and after 10 + years of selling CDs, t-shirts, and books, Tyme decided to start her own brand in 2019.

Built on the foundations of community, content, and legacy, the brand brings together people for Hip Hop events and free resources, in addition to its Hip Hop content-based channel that promotes rap cyphers, music videos, interviews, short films, and more.

2024 finds Tyme Journey working on two new projects this summer. In addition to her creative pursuits, Tyme is a huge advocate for body positivity and self-love, which she promotes on her beauty page BigJoyBeauty. Her ultimate goal for her film career is to direct, write, and produce thrilling and dramatic TV shows. While her fashion aspirations include a BDP.ONE collection with a fashion show in Paris, France.
