Tokyo’s Revenge Unveils Grunge Rap & "Gotham" Visual
Have you ever wondered what the product of two completely different genres would sound like if they had a baby? I know I can’t be the only one who imagines the complete opposite rap music sound meets grunge heavy metal. I guess my imagination runs away with me. Coming from a rock & roll family, I truly appreciate and open my pallet to all sounds of music. My late uncle who played the guitar almost every morning, my mom who introduced me to all types of old sounds from The Rolling Stones to WAR. Music is my second language.
So, I am honored to be in attendance and introduced to a new artist like Tokyo’s Revenge. Early last week, a number of media outlets received an invitation to virtually attend a press conference for the rising artist. We watched his newest music video titled ‘Gotham’. His creative knack and love for anime left the visual full of action and anticipating the next scene. It was fun, creative and interesting af.
If you’ve tried to search for the rappers information, good luck. His goal is for the world to hear his music. His real name is anonymous but I did discover that he is of the Nigerian descent and up on the east coast.
I’m not sure if he’s practicing some magic voodoo routine because he also claims to be 444 years old and counting. I mean I know that personally as a black woman who is well over 25, gets mistaken for being underage but I think he’s doing magic.
In the conference, Tokyo explained his theory of coming into his success. “I made sure to never get comfortable.” Becoming too comfortable was a sign of contentment and com-placement. His music is a clear indication of him wanting to reach new heights and take on new challenges.
As he snacked on a bag of pink Starburst, Tokyo spoke on his struggles with mental health, social anxiety and anime. Tokyo loves gaming and dope beats, it’s prominent in his creativity. His ideas of success are very traditional but with a flare. He is using his ability to level up.
In conclusion, Tokyo has a sound that the world needs and his visuals take you away from the shambles of this world. In the midst of a pandemic, he could use some creative vices. Tokyo’s Revenge and his team provide that to the very end.
Peace.
