The Pendletons : 'Funk Forever' (EP Review)

Straight out of San Francisco, California sounding like a blast from the past are The Pendletons. (The Bay stay coming with that heat… don’t sleep.) The duo made up of Eric Boss and Trailer Limon take us back 40 somethin’ years on their latest work Funk Forever. The 5-track EP starts off with Funk Forever’s funky bass line that reminded me of Juice, one of my favorite movies. SOLD HOMIE!Their boogie-ways shine throughout the project. Soul-Train worthy type ISH. "Set Sail" is one of those numbers that you have to drop the top to no matter where in the world you are, just so you can “sail off to the moon say hi to the stars as we pass them by”. (You like how I did that, don’t you?) HA!"Telling Lies" is so close to those old joints its scary. I think it’s the background vocals. On this song, The Pendletons dismiss those women sleeping with their man’s bestfriend and handle it the old fashioned way. A bomb song. They wrap up the EP with "In the Mood" is a slow tune filled with guitars and a sexy a** synth that makes me do that stank face when something too ILL comes on. You know which one. No other way to put it. Keep the FUNK ALIVE guys! We're rocking with ya’ll! Stream 'Funk Forever' below.
