Sev7en Taylor Drops Knowledge on New Singles & Living Life to The Fullest

If 2020 taught us anything, it was to live life to the fullest while going after what you want. With no regrets or apologies. So, it was only right to catch up with the unapologetic Hype Homie, Sev7en Taylor for one of his first interviews of the year. Dropping two singles in one night, "Jennifer's Body" and "I Bind You Nancy", he's already giving 2021 that work. And it's only the second week of the year! Catch up with Sev7en Taylor below to see why he does what he does, inspiration behind the new tracks and how he continues to f*ck it up all 2021.

Happy New Year! What lessons from 2020 are you taking into the New Year?

Play with every color in the crayon box; while you can. Life is short. We should be having fun. Enjoying our 20's. And go hard with everything.

So, you just dropped 2 new singles, “Jennifer’s Body” and “I Bind You Nancy”. Why did you decide to do a double release?

I wanted to be able to show all sides of me. I'm not just a rapper; I'm a music artist. Going into the recording process for this deluxe; I wanted to express every side of me. I feel I can rap in my sleep. What excites me is creating alternative worlds. This deluxe project is gonna touch so many people. It's legit my best work thus far. I recorded a track last night entitled "THROAT" and It's a hit. I can truly hear it in all types of spaces.

“Jennifer’s Body” finds you exploring different sounds. Aside from Hip Hop, what are some of your other favorite genres?

“Jennifer's Body"  was written in 15 mins legit. I then called J GRGRY  and he wrote his part then days later recorded it. "Jennifer's Body" is about industry groupies and how sometimes we can become them or get caught up with them. I love all genres. Music is spiritual to me. I also recorded "Jennifer's Body" as if I was on the movie soundtrack.

“I Bind You Nancy” sounds a lil’ more familiar to fans, as you use colorful imagery and clever wordplay over dark production. But, who is “Nancy”? And “Jennifer” too.

"I Bind You Nancy" is for the fake love I get; people that act like they're fans of Sev7en's music. I've had so many people show their true colors last year. People legit was in my dm's praising me and dissing me with the same breath. It's funny. Also the title is from the 90s hit movie "The Craft". That movie inspired this project a lot.

Aside from writing all of your music, you also design your own cover art. What is the creative process behind coming up with a concept to the final piece of work?

The music inspires it. Sometimes it comes right to me and other times it'll just start creating itself. Everything is just nature taking its course.

What are some obstacles you’ve overcome as an independent artists on the rise?

Not allowing social media to rush my process. Learning my power and how impact I am to the underground rap scene; people don't like to admit that they've mocked many things I do. Getting budgets for projects; money is very needed for your growth as well. I'm very thankful to be able to fund my projects.

What do you tell yourself in the face of adversity?

You're gonna be a superstar.

2020 was definitely one for the history books. How do you plan on making 2021 your year?

I'm coming for everything. Visuals.. new project.... new book. Thank you for this interview!
