Tune in and follow up @sev7entaylor !

Your album just dropped not too long ago. What made you decide to put out more material so soon?

I was living in Brooklyn temporary; being in NYC and realizing that I’m on the stomping grounds of my rap-idols. I started writing new material right after the album was turned in. I literally wrote “ A Mild Day In June” in one sitting and I freestyled Chun-li portion of “Cunt Power” at my live performance in May. So I decided to put that on wax. I’m having fun. I’m in a very creative place and I’m shooting a music video next month as well. I’m pushing out 3-4 videos from this album before we move onto a new era. I just wanted to celebrate pride month with new content and the children are GAGGGING. (chuckles)

We hear the progression and aggression on this one! How often do you practice and what’s the process behind it?

I’m always perfecting my skills/ flows etc. I’m never not practicing or learning how to rap something very fast or creative. As an artist we should always be practicing in our down time. I sat back and observed since May. So I’m like June come; I’m gonna rip some edges! It felt good to be back in the studio. Working on new projects. Can’t wait to share.

What’s the meaning of ‘Butch Queen?’

"Butch Queen” means many things but in ballroom terms just a gay man that could blend in as straight guy if wanted to. It’s power in being a “ Butch Queen” cause we are bright, talented and in touch with inner self. S/o to Precious cause I def channeled her while I recording the second half of “ Cunt Power”. She’s currently on “My House“ tv show on Viceland and I love it! I am such a big fan of Sinia Ebony. Ballroom culture is gay culture and we should take pride in it. We can’t allow mainstream media to erase US. I am here and I will be heard. Black LGBT history is BLACK HISTORY. Far as the process I can write two or three songs within an hour. I gets busy with the pen and I love the fact that I write my own shit. These are my thoughts and my raps are my raps when I perform them.

How did you pick the instrumentals for the freestyles?

I literally looked for anything that was giving me what I felt. I felt like I needed to remind everyone how skilled I am as a MC. As an artist, I’m not a put together gimmick. Nah. Ya boy takes hours writing in the bathroom or wherever I find comfort to take out my red rap book. It’s important to be in control of your creative process. Don’t ever think you aren’t smart enough to write your own shit. * Nicki Voice*

Well damn, we look forward to more like this from you. When are you going to release more music? 👀

I’ll be releasing another mixtape before the follow up project to my debut album “Boys Just Wanna Have Fun.“ It’s my favorite season as well. I have lots to talk about and I’m very excited to be sharing my new experiences. Meaux is re-releasing “ Splash “ Ft next Friday (June 8th) on all platforms. Plus more surprises COMING! Thank you for this dope interview and thank you everyone supporting / loving / listening to me. I love y’all so much! GO STREAMMMM THAT NEW SH*T!!!
