International Duo: The Power Circle Podcast

Hi Hypers!

I am so glad to be back and I'm coming back with another dope interview with some international friends. Today, we're chilling with Reggie "Cash" and Cassandra drop the wildly growing podcast based in Canada -- The Power Circle.

I have watched this podcast from start to slow success. It's so sweet! I get excited when I see people go after their dreams -- especially in media. So here's the tea on what it takes to be on the "radio".

If you know what a podcast is, read more here.

So now that you are officially a Podcast expert, let's talk about how Reggie and Cassandra got it into the industry. I had the opportunity (and honor) to interview these two and get a little insider on how they started... So let's get into it!

When did you start The Power Circle?

Power Circle actually celebrated it's second year June 3rd 2019. When we started the podcast, we were in the basement of a building, with no gear. It is definitely nice to see how we continue to progress.

What inspired the name? What inspired you to create a media platform?

When we were still trying to figure out the location and our content we were texting back and forth ideas for names. And we thought Power Circle would be great as the idea was to create a space where we could discuss entertainment news and expose locals, and we thought that was a powerful thing to do. And because we are a team we decided on "circle". It is very catchy!

Where did you both start?

As a duo, the beginning of Power Circle was basic. We found a location downtown Ottawa that assists those who want to venture into media. They had rooms we could rent (they were not that luxurious, but it was good enough for our needs and affordable). They also had the equipment we could rent on the spot, at a low cost. We now record in a better location, and still very much accessible for our guests.

Reggie Cash was the one that had been pushing for a podcast. He pushed the idea to Cassie B. multiple times until she finally agreed to join. She was afraid that the podcast would not be well received as Ottawa is a government city and less "hype" than Montreal or Toronto. But since our launch, we have gotten a lot of good feedback and encouragement. We have gained a lot of followers and people recognize us in public!

Reggie Cash is in the process of completing his Communications degree, and hosts events on the weekends. Reggie Cash actually developed an interest in media at a young age. He used to have a YouTube channel in high school. Cassie B. is familiar with the industry thanks to her father Max "Mad Max" Beauge, a known radio personality in the Haitian community. She also keeps up with the Hollywood gossips and watches a lot of reality TV shows, which makes her a natural at "dishing" on Saturdays.

If you could interview anyone, who would it be?

Cassie B:Kim Kardashian. I love Kim Kardashian. I love her story, her drive. It's like she never sleeps and that contributed to her success. Her father was the famous Robert Kardashian (OJ Simpson’s lawyer), Kris Jenner's ex was a US Olympian gold medalist, she was a celebrity closet organizer back in the days, and she's dated a variety of men. Today she is a mother, and is studying law. I think it would be a fascinating interview.

Reggie Cash: If we could interview someone well for me it would definitely be Drake and Kevin Hart. Drake the impact he has on music especially him being Canadian and Kevin Hart knowing his upbringing I would love to ask questions on the early parts of his career.

Who are your biggest inspirations in the media business?

Cassie B.: First, my dad is my inspiration. He has worked in radio for as long as I have lived and watching him do what he loves is very inspiring. However, I also look up to Rachel David, founder of Hashtag Communications and is very active in the world of media. She recently did a Ted Talk on social media and how it affects this generation. I just love her openness and her love for media. She’s well experienced and has such a bright personality. What I also like about her is that not only does she broadcast her life, achievements and experiences on social media, but she also finds the time to post helpful videos for up and coming aspirers like us. I have even reached out to her for advice on public speaking for a gig I got, and she actually took the time to answer me!

Reggie Cash: Biggest inspirations would have to be everyone who laid the blueprint before us. Power 105, Big boy, Tim Westwood the list goes on. These people are the reason why popular culture is what it is today and what inspired us to start our podcast. We are from Ottawa, Ontario and we don’t have that outlet for our stars and we wanted to create a platform for the local artist but also start as a destination to talk about their life and their success.

It seems like you guys are moving pretty swiftly, Where do you see yourself in 2 years?

Cassie B.: In two years I want to be able to say Power Circle hosted their first event. I am not sure what it will be, but I definitely want to see it happen.

Reggie Cash: Having our own Sirus XM radio station. That’s def what’s next for us. Power Circle can branch out in so many ways let’s wait and see but for now having a radio station

If you could give a piece of advice to the young Reggie and Cassandra, what would it be?

Cassie B.: To never stop at hesitation and to pursue your dreams. Till this day I make the mistake to stop at hesitation only to later realize that I can achieve my goal, and then I end up regretting the delay in the process. I would also tell our young selves to not let anyone tell us “we can’t”, to me that only means that person does not want to see us succeed and that gives all the more reason to work much harder.

Reggie Cash: Keep trusting your gut and follow your heart. We were supposed to be on Power Circle year 3 right now but Cassie had things to deal with at the time.  God is great and we finally started it up. So my advice to Baby Reggie and Baby Cassie would be to follow your dreams no matter what.  Be open-minded to anything. Except for drugs.

Yo! Reggie & Cassandra! Thank you for the interview. We love what you're doing so KEEP going and don't ever stop! I think you're some of Canada's finest! Be blessed and continue to read more interview heres on Hype Off Life!

Peace!

XO,

Brittney Parker
