The Song Behind Peabo J’s Success

Freak 4 U, the popular pop song of Peabo J, rose him to the ranks of success. The singer and songwriter hails from Alabama. 

Coming from a family of musicians, Peabo had an early inclination towards music. He developed his dancing passion when he first saw the video of Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’. “I don’t sound like anybody else. I call it R&G … rhythm and groove. I got moves. And it’s kind of like that sound that I used to love as a kid. Basically it all comes from my love for dance. I love to groove,” said Peabo. 

Already singing at the age of 2, Peabo mastered many instruments, such as Piano, Trombone, and the drums. By the time he was 18, he graduated high school and wanted to start his career in music. Being already good at music and dancing, Peabo started working with many producers. 

His career peaked when he released his “Freak 4 U” song. The upbeat song, which became the epitome of Peabo’s success, garnered more than 1 million views on YouTube, a popular social video platform. The artist’s manifesto is to make music that resonates with the people, making them groove and dance. “I don’t like to put out sad or depressing music, like the blues. It has to have a groove to it with a banging hook. And I will always use my music to influence people to dance,” said Peabo.
