Nokki Cabrera Shares Dynamic Music Video for “La Vida” from Debut EP ‘Trap Salsa’
Up-and-coming artist Nokki Cabrera has made her official introduction into the music world with her inaugural project 'Trap Salsa.' Considering her sound to be a combination of traditional Salsa with a Trap base, Cabrera’s EP serves to be an expression and merging of her two worlds as a first-generation Cuban-American. Now, she’s back with a stunning visual for “La Vida,” which displays her creativity in a whole new way.
“Trap Salsa is about love, optimism, living your life to the fullest, seeing the beauty in things, and never taking anything for granted,” The Tampa, Florida native shared during a recent interview. “When people listen to this project, I pray they feel confident, embraced, and loved. I want people to feel light and to want to express themselves in positive ways.”
'Trap Salsa' is a perfect blending of two genres listeners have most likely not heard simultaneously and a great first effort from Nokki Cabrera that showcases her talent, versatility and pride in her dual background. “As a child, my parents would play all sorts of Latin music in the house, since Spanish is their first language,” Cabrera said. “I’m a first-generation Cuban American so I wanted my music to represent that as well.” Whether on the dance-inducing “Beso” where Cabrera gets flirty and sensual or the drill beat and horn-infused “Deseo,” Trap Salsa will appeal to a variety of audiences.
Growing up listening to a plethora of iconic female artists, Nokki Cabrera always had dreams of a career in music. “I’d watch Shakira, Selena, and Rihanna with my parents. Always listening to Celia Cruz I felt like that was my destiny, I wanted that admiration these women had that were so strong and fierce, I wanted to relate to that,” she shared. In present day Cabrera is now staking her claim in the industry and will be an artist to keep on your radar.
