Matt B Returns with Tricky Stewart-Produced Single - "Deep"

Today, Matt B, an internationally-recognized singer/performer and Recording Academy member comes through with a new single, "Deep". Exclusively premiered via GRUNGECAKE and produced by music extraordinaire, Tricky Stewart, the track embodies late 90s-early 2000s classic RnB energy. Matt B sings deep-cutting words to a lover who he’s leaving. Refusing to lose himself and compromise any further, the unfairness and coldness of the seemingly tumultuous relationship come to an abrupt, but necessary end.

Not one new to the game, the Chicago native signed to StarBase Records Japan in 2014 before releasing his Japanese debut album “LOVE & WAR” in September 2014, which went to #1 on the iTunes R&B Charts. His hit single “Plain Girl” also went #1 on the iTunes R&B Charts. “LOVE & WAR” became available for physical distribution at over 1,400 TSUTAYA music stores, and sold out in several locations.

His sophomore album “DIVE” released in January 2016 and achieved similar success, hitting #1 on the iTunes R&B Charts in less than 24 hours. “DIVE” was also made available in TSUTAYA stores. His two singles ‘Tokyo Girl’ and ‘My Dreams’ charted at #3 and #8 respectively on the iTunes R&B Charts.

Matt is currently working hard to branch into the US market. He has worked with some of the industry’s greatest, such as 9x GRAMMY Award winning producer Bryan-Michael Cox, GRAMMY-nominated producers Donnie Scantz and Mark Byrd, and so on. He signed a digital distribution deal with Priority Records as of March 2017. His most successful single that he released through Priority was entitled ‘Need Your Love’, which currently has over 600K streams on Spotify.

He released his 4-track EP ‘RISE’ in April 2018 (produced exclusively by Bryan-Michael Cox), and it collectively received over a half million streams on Spotify. To date, Matt has over 1.3 million plays on Apple Music and 1.6 million plays on Spotify. Matt is currently working on his full-length US debut album with Bryan-Michael Cox and Tricky. Stewart. So, stay tuned. But in the meanwhile, stream “Deep” below to a taste of what Matt B brings.
