Will A MakeWillMadeIt & Mustard Verzuz Happen?
The quarantine brought out battles, and we can't get enough of them. The Verzuz battle series came about as a means to give many musical legends their flowers, and show the world why they became legends. Spearheaded by Swizz Beatz and Timbaland, viewers got to see artists and producers go head to head for 20 rounds with their catalogues of classics on Instagram, and on Apple TV.
While the mission is to bring out one winner, the fans are the real winners as they're taken back to a time when they first heard the hits. Recently, it was suggested on social media by @critics_of_culture that producers MikeWillMadeIt and Mustard duke it out in a future Verzuz event. Thanks to a meme that was floating around, Mike caught wind of it, and made a comment that he has 20 songs ready to battle Mustard.
Born in Marietta, Georgia, MikeWillMadeIt got his big break in 2011 with "Tupac Back", a track performed by Meek Mill and Rick Ross. It peaked at #31 on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop chart, and was featured on the Maybach Music Group's "Self Made Vol. 1" project. Since then, he has made platinum hits for Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Rae Sremmurd, Nicki Minaj, Future, and many more.
Born in Los Angeles, California, Mustard started out as a DJ before making beats solely for friend and rapper YG. His break came in 2011 thanks to Tyga's multi-platinum selling "Rack City" single. Since then, everyone wanted a beat from Mustard from 2 Chainz, Jeezy and Ty Dolla $ign to B.O.B. and Roddy Rich. The hits are still coming for both producers.
With Timbaland sharing the meme recently, it's safe to say that a Verzuz for MikeWillMadeIt and Mustard could be in the works. Which producer are you cheering for?
