Over One Million Streams For Law's "Vent" EP
"Vent" by R&B Singer Law was released March 8th and has garnered over 1 MILLION streams already!
We must have an outlet, whether music, journaling, or talking to a friend. When we hold our emotions in, it creates a chaotic internal environment. What I admire about the album "Vent" is Law's transparency and vulnerability. She unleashes all her anger, frustration, and insecurities on this album. This album also coincides with her Tik-Tok series "Catch A Cheater." Each song's name also has a "fed up" approach. For example:
- "Too Many Times"
- "Lies"
- "Over It"
- "No Going Back"
Some people can confuse a distraction with an outlet or release. However, a distraction makes us forget about our emotions or put them on the back burner. For example, partying, exercising, or drinking alcohol. Some of these distractions may bring ease, but if it doesn't tackle the root of the emotion, the emotion will still be there.
The definition of vent is to release strong emotions. In each song on the album, Law expresses her dismay and heartbreak toward a former partner. She may or may not realize that her choice to be truthful with herself and her feelings can help other people dealing with the same issues and improve her mental health.
On the front cover she is holding her head with both hands covered in beautiful diamonds and jewelry stones. It gives an Empress Queen vibe. However, holding her head can also represent how many thoughts are in her mind and her needing to express herself.
She created a work of art based on her heartbreak and proves the popular point of how our pain can create our best work. Through our most painful and hurtful experiences lies a part of us willing to let it work for us and not against us.
In what ways can you allow your pain to work for you instead of against you?
