Kayoh LA on Networking, Musical Growth & Life in the IE (Interview)

It's been a minute since we last heard from Kayoh LA. 3 years to be exact. But that doesn't mean he hasn't been putting in work. Aside from continuously putting out dope music, he has exponentially grown his fanbase, as well as an artist.

Born in Lynwood, CA and now residing in the Inland Empire, where he's been making his music moves, Kayoh LA has made a name for himself, and all on his own terms. Since starting his career, Kayoh LA has opened for plenty of Hip Hop heavyweights like Trippie Redd, Ski Mask The Slump God and Chief Keef. Boasting a very versatile style thanks to his love of different genres, Kayoh LA has successfully carved out a lane all his own.

Catch up with the now 21-year-old rapper to see how life in the Inland Empire has allowed him to make major moves, the power networking has played in his success, and what's been up since our last interview. Right now and only on Hype Off Life 👊🏾

What’s been new since we last spoke?

I got more handsome. Haha nah, I’m just kidding  but since we last spoke I was 18 and now I’m 21. Also, I think my music has gotten a lot better, and a lot of dope blessings have been happening with my music, thank God. My fanbase has been growing bigger and bigger. Shoutouts to everyone supporting me and my brothers though on this journey! Definitely can’t forget them.

You’re from Lynwood, CA, but now living in the Inland Empire. How would you say the two places differ, as far as career opportunities?

Honestly I can say the IE has been a big leap in my career because if I weren’t out here I wouldn’t have met the people that I know now, and also wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing now. But, aside from Lynwood and all of the LA area, I got people that support me out there as well so I fasho got love for everyone there and the city.

Would you ever move back to the city?

Lowkey I kind of would. But, at the same time I wouldn’t because I have to do my part first before I go somewhere else. I have to takeover and help the unheard artist get heard and get the credit they deserve. I’m tryna leave my mark here, no cap.

You’ve also opened for plenty of big artists like Trippie Redd, Chief Keef and Ski Mask The Slump God. How did those opportunities come about?

Haha yessir ! Dope shows right there to be honest. But, my manager has gotten us those shows . He’s the one in charge of all that. So, promoters hit him up asking if we are down to open up for those artist and we are down like always!

What role has networking played in your success?

Networking is definitely one of the biggest things. I’ve met a lot of dope artist after shows, met people from shows as well, and definitely working with other rappers/singers/producers helped me a lot as well because the creativity that can be created is dope. Like there was this one time I went to the studio in North Hollywood and I met King Los. He was giving us advice that I still live with today. It was a crazy experience because he was humble and just telling us what to do and not to do. So, I appreciated that fasho!

Your new single “Loud” is a banger, for sure. What type of vibe were you going for?

Thank you thank you, I appreciate that. But, straight up I don’t even know what vibe I was going for honestly. I just heard the beat and I really liked it. So, I started to write to it but after I heard it with my lyrics I thought it was just a turnt vibe just like a vibe. Haha.

Working on any other new music we should be aware of?

Hell yeah, I got a lot of music coming out! Spanish and English but definitely will be dropping more soon. No cap. Be ready for the songs with big features got a lot of surprises up my sleeve. Just working hard for this!

Anything else we should know before you go?

To be honest, nothing but thank you for having me once again I appreciate y’all foreals. Also, thank you to everyone supporting!
