Jessie Reyez Surprises Fans with Deluxe Edition of ‘Before Love Came To Kill Us’
Grammy-nominated, Colombian singer/songwriter and Toronto rep, Jessie Reyez just surprised fans with the unexpected release of the deluxe edition of her critically-acclaimed debut album, ‘Before Love Came To Kill Us.’ The original version, which included previously released tracks like “Ankles,” “Imported” featuring 6lack and her platinum hit “Figures” has been making its rounds in everybody’s speakers. The deluxe edition of the project picks up on the original’s greatness by including three new tracks, plus features from A-Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, JID, Rico Nasty and Melii.
Along with the release of the deluxe album, VIBE VIVA unveiled Jessie as their latest cover star naming her “The People’s Pop Star.” Jessie also partnered with Jameson Irish Whiskey to host a virtual album release live stream performance last night via YouTube Live. This is the perfect partnership as Jameson kicks off the “Jameson Connects: The Stay Inn” series as a communal space to connect through culture, craic, and curated content. She also called fans to action to donate to charities such as Together Rising, Feeding America, United Way Canada, and MusiCares.
In addition to dropping fire projects and performances, Jessie Reyez was recently on tour with Billie Eilish before COVID-19 threw a wrench in thing. Releasing the album during this time left Jessie conflicted. On her decision to keep the album date Jessie states, ”It messed me up because I was like ‘I don't want to seem insensitive.' I've grown up thinking about death as something that could easily happen tomorrow. But I know that for everybody else, there's a lot of fear right now. I'm conflicted. But I've decided I'm putting it out because indecision never did anything for nobody.”
And we’re glad she did. Catch the stream below, as well as a replay from the album release live stream for more vibes.
