Introducing Jeff Person Jr.
It’s September, you are five months into a pandemic, therefore, the world is at a standstill. Can you believe that the globe is connecting and getting even more personal for very necessary reasons? The meaning of ‘drive-by’ isn’t just a term used for hood activities.
In this season, the internet is the main source for connecting with your loved ones and content is king. With the entire world ‘connected at the bottom like the letter V’ (Shouts to NIP).
We have an expectation. REAL CONTENT. We want to see the real lives of people just like us. Well, at least I do. That means, “Me, you, Ya mama and Ya Cousin Too” are probably REAL content to the masses. That means we are getting some amazing testimonies and of course my favorite, GOOD MUSIC.
That’s why we’re here. Recently, I had the privilege of tapping in with artist Jeff Person Jr. aka BOSSHOGSMOOV. I feel it’s necessary to capitalize her stage name because he is indeed a big heart and a huge personality.
I met Jeff a few months back at a friends show. I have to refer back to the vlog we did for the show. I just knew this dude was in my cool book because of his southern twang. Deep down inside I like to imagine that I am Ery’kah Badu’s 3rd cousin on her mama’s side.
I began to follow Smoov on IG immediately after we met and we’ve been cool every since.
The California native, migrated to Alabama and as a kid, learning to adapt can be quit frightening yet interesting. He’s adopted the hospitality and the southern accent for sure. But what about the music? We all know that in this industry, it comes with a free ego whether it’s passive or direct.
We seem to try to be in competition with other when we should be in daily competition with the person we were yesterday. That is what I appreciate about Jeff’s mentality. As a father, he puts faith faith and family first.
Imagine moving from one side of the country where the population is probably more than 4 times less than where you live now. From Mount Andrews, Alabama to Salinas, California. The taste in music changes drastically.
As this helped him expanded his pallet, Jeff grew to love music even more. Learning the west coast sound.
He recently released a 3 song EP called ‘A Lil Personal: Volume 1’.
In the Project, Jeff get’s to express himself with original lyrics about his life and an upbeat, Anderson.Paak vibe called ‘Hesitate’. The single father gave us something that we can chew on and I’m here for it. I can’t wait to hear Volume 2.
Check out his music here.
Until then, keep ya distance and keep the peace. Oh yea, and wash ya ass AND ya hands.
PEACE.
Miss Parker.
