HYPE INTERNATIONAL: Introducing the Sursilvaz

For many it may be a surprise that many of the sub-genres of Hip Hop that we enjoy here in the U.S. are also cherished in many other countries across the world. I grew up listening to a lot of G-funk, even though I had no idea it had it's own name. It was the laidback flows and the r&b touch on a lot of the songs I came across that did it for me. Snoop killed me with Gin and Juice ISTG. Nate Dogg (Funk In Peace OG) was another artist I was drawn to highly. In 2015, I was introduced to Spanish G-funk. Then through the power of some friends and the internet I came across the Sursilvaz.

The duo made up of the 2 brothers (Mr. Zagre and Mr. Canino) are coming out of Santiago, Chile. With a resume of international collaborations with artists and producers dating back to 2001, the Sursilvaz seem to be leaders of the Underground. Their summer-bbq, OG attitudes, and Cali-inspired attire show the love and appreciation they have for the roots of their movement.

What is very interesting and appealing is the fusion found in their music. With an artist like Tim Jones laying down flavor on several choruses while the duo spits slow on the verses, hearing the English and Spanish blend is truly something beautiful even though such creations aren't always received for what they are...ART. Check out Sursilvaz’s latest visual for their track You alongside Chile rapper Dilov. It's time for the world to discover these underground artist and give them the credit they deserve. And I'm here to do everything in my power to do so. This is HYPE!!
