A Moment with Duckwrth, The Vibe King.
There’s life’s mantras, affirmations, meditation, and then there’s Duckwrth. Relax, you are now entering a sound oasis. In this realm, you will experience a place that you’ve never been. The experience gets ‘Super Good.’
Jared Lee, a South Los Angeles native has taken original sound and made it great again. No shade to anyone who is dedicated to the new sound but we needed that old thang back. In this season, motivation, inspiration, and an escape from reality is truly necessary. I love when an album sounds like one big story.
The construction of the piece was so well put together, I know this guy is aiming to become a music genius. It’s all or nothing with him.
I was blessed to sit in the most recent press conference for the artist last week to discuss everything under the sun from the current events, the effects of growing up in the city and his style of music. Once he began speaking, it confirmed that he’s a true vibe and we need more of his energy in music. I appreciate his outlook on life and most importantly, how he decides to protect himself in this shady, shady industry.
During the conference, I was able to go on and ask my question:
“If you could sample a song from any artist from the 70’s, who would it be?”
His excitement to answer the question took me (and probably the entire room) for a loop resulting in him logging out of the conference to get the answer. I can tell the question put him in another space; creatives know that space.
“Minnie Rippleton: Come To My Garden. I would sample the f*ck out of that album”
He mentioned the perfection and how it sounds like it was produced for a movie. I feel like his release of ‘Super Good’ is a depiction of classic sounds knocking on our door. The millennials door. If you answered, let him take you away. It’s worth it.
