DaeShawn Forrest Learns Life’s Never Too Tough To Give Up On "Transparent 2" (Album Review)

Let’s face it, life doesn’t come with an instruction manual and most people are winging it. In-between not knowing what’s going on, most of us don’t know what we’re doing, even though we would never admit it.

Thankfully we have music artists that are able to express what we’re feeling when there are no words. One of these amazing artists is DaeShawn Forrest, who's transparency is not only refreshing, but highly relatable. In keeping his vow to remain transparent with his audience, DaeShawn comes through with a thoughtful new project, “Transparent 2”.

Picking up on 2020’s release of “Transparent”, it’s sequel finds DaeShawn still “chasing his heavenly crown” and still putting out great music filled with fiery, faith-filled flows. The 15 track project starts off strong with “Trust Issues” before delving into Dashawn’s story with maturity beyond his years. Remaining transparent for all to see, journey through DaShawn’s mind and life as he puts his trust in God’s divine plan.

Exploring the highs and lows of life, “Transparent 2” finds DaeShawn battling to rise above the undercurrents of depression, anxiety and overthinking that take so many under. Features from Raechelle T. Forrest, Le’Tresse Cherie, Regina Donyele, and KD the Poet complement the project's quality production, as DaeShawn excels his chosen medium of expression - music.

Coming in at 53 minutes and 39 seconds, the project plays like a journal entry turned into a sonic movie, as DaeShawn delves into various emotions and seasons of life, like the natural expansion and contraction of relationships and the need to release the one-sided ones, growing pains, coming out of depression, and other topics that typically fly under the radar unless artists have the same creative freedom as DaeShawn does as an independent  artist.

After experiencing all of the highs and lows of life, “Transparent 2” ends on a bright note, with DaeShawn discovering the pain “won’t last forever”. This shows his humanity and lets listeners know he is just another person going through life, trying to figure it out.

Overall the project is an important reminder of the importance of mental health, vision to see it through. Because what good are you to society and your self if you’re not good to yourself. Press play on "Transparent 2" below and follow up @daeshawnforrest
