5 Games to Keep You Busy During COVID-19 Quarantine

The COVID-19 quarantine isn’t letting up anytime soon, and that means we’ll have to find more ways to keep ourselves busy. Music can fill a lot of the empty space, and some artists may put out new tracks in the coming months while they themselves are on lockdown. But everyone’s going to need other things to do also.

We gave you some ideas in our look at books to up your hustle while quarantined, and they’re pretty appealing. Finding something that takes up time, interests you and teaches you something is ideal. For those long, slow, isolated days when you just want to relax though, gaming can be another great outlet. So below you’ll see our recommendations for five games to keep yourself busy with.

nba2k 2020 - dwyane wade video game

NBA 2k20

We’ll start out with far and away the best gaming franchise for hip hop soundtracks. NBA 2k20 might not get as much attention as past editions like 2k13 or 2k19 for its soundtrack specifically, but it’s still a great game to dive into if you want some good background beats. Heavy did a full write-up of the tracklisting, but to give you some idea it includes music from Drake, Lil Wayne, Travis Scott, and J.Cole, to name a few. Not to mention the game action is better than ever. You can download this game on any major up-to-date console.

Best Fiends

If you’re looking for something simpler that will absolutely melt quarantine hours, Best Fiends is the (unofficial) mobile game of the year so far. It’s a puzzle game that revolves around a bunch of little Angry Birds-like characters. It looks a little cheesy at first glance — and it is, in an intentional kind of way — but it’s also exactly the sort of mobile game you can get really into when you need to pass the time. The game is available for Android and iOS devices, and is a free download, making it the easiest of our suggestions to get right into.

grand theft auto - gta video game

GTA V

Grand Theft Auto V is another great choice if you want a hip hop soundtrack. Drawing inspiration from GTA: San Andreas, the game is just packed with good West Coast hip hop. Big Boy serves as the in-game radio DJ, and there are multiple stations that are basically hip hop channels. As for the game itself, GTA V may not be the shiniest new thing in gaming anymore — but it’s still the most recent core game in the series, and arguably the best. You can download the game on up-to-date PCs, PlayStations, and Xbox consoles, and there are some rumors it might be made available for Nintendo Switch.

God of Storms

This is another simpler option if you just want something to lose yourself in with minimal effort. God of Storms is a slot machine arcade you can find online; it builds on basic slot gameplay with a Roman gods theme to it, which if you enjoy you can also find replicated in a number of other game series. Said series is comprised of real-money casino games, which might be just what some players are looking for. However, it's worth noting that most platforms make it easy to sample these games and pick and choose titles before buying in. This in fact is how casino sites attract most players. Regarding God of Storms specifically, Gala Casino provides a particularly easy window of access. The site's welcome bonuses include free spins attached to even minimal deposits, which means you can try God of Storms (or similar games) without making much of an investment. If you enjoy it, you'll find plenty of other titles that will help you pass the time.

doom video game

DOOM Eternal

Last but not least is DOOM Eternal. This is a brand new release in the iconic series that was among 2020’s most anticipated games and is now earning rave reviews. If you want to get into something brand new, it might be the best option we have early in this new quarantine era. The game is available for download on Xbox and PlayStation devices as well as PC, with a Nintendo Switch release date TBA.
