Super Producer Bongo ByTheWay Secures 4th Quarter Wins

With his hand in different pots, ranging from Hip Hop and R&B to Gospel and Afrobeat, Grammy award-winning super producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Bongo ByTheWay has created a track record for seamlessly fusing genres, styles and proficiencies that have remained unparalleled since he stepped foot on the scene.

Born of Nigerian descent, Uforo “Bongo” Ebong aka Bongo ByTheWay was raised in Florida and Rhode Island, where he discovered his musical gifts at an early age. As a child that grew up in the church, Bongo took to music as an outlet early on and received teaching from his musically inclined older brother beginning at age eight. From there Bongo began creating his own beats when he was 11, and got his first major placement on a Musiq Soulchild track when he was 18.

Always setting his own personal bar of excellence, Bongo didn’t let his early success stop him from pursuing higher education though, as he went on to attend the University of North Florida. It was after obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree that Bongo found himself relocating to the the entertainment epicenter of the world, (Los Angeles) to build his career full-time.

Despite his early expression of talent and validation from big names in the industry, Bongo ByTheWay remained focused on continuous improvement and began to merge his instrumentalist background with the wave of new technology available.

As the musical genius explains,

I grew up appreciating organic sounds. I played in the church, I grew up listening to Erykah Badu and The Roots, people that really have that feel of the instrumentation. But at the same time, I do appreciate the nuances of technology because they allow you to express yourself in a new way and have different soundscapes that are cutting edge.”

This lead to 2013 being Bongo’s year, as he gained acclaim for his production on Big Sean’s #1 album ‘Dark Sky Paradise’ and ‘Documentary 2’ by The Game. As word got around about his unique high-caliber production and killer work either, Bongo ByTheWay’s dynamic sound turned heads throughout the industry, and has since led him to producing tracks for Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, Nipsey Hussle, Future, Roddy Ricch, Eric Bellinger, and many others.

Aside from industry props, Bongo ByTheWay Is also a 4-time Grammy-nominated producer for songs with Cordae and BJ the Chicago Kid, in addition to his landmark Grammy Award-winning production on “Free From It All” by Lecrae.

Not one to let anything get in the way of his goals, not even COVID-19, Bongo ByTheWay also secured two Billboard number ones for his chart-topping production on Teyana Taylor’s 'The Album' and Pop Smoke’s 'Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon' in 2020.

Crediting his dynamic upbringing as the key to all of his success and music excellence, Bongo ByTheWay is steadily. Building a legacy and blazing a trail for future producers to follow in his path. Because as he puts it, “If you’re not truly passionate about it, you’re not going to go the extra mile.”
