The Black Issue is Out Now!
Publisher's Word
From COVID-19 wreaking havoc on our lives, the thought of another Great Depression and murder hornets invading the U.S. to social unrest bringing forth past due change, 2020 has been a year. A year of unity, knowledge of self, and clear vision.
This issue is a celebration of Black lives and culture. Because we need that. Too often, we are misrepresented in the media, if mentioned at all. The majority of our stories are not told by us or from our perspective, failing to catch the subtle nuances you would only know if you were there.
I was inspired to put together this issue, “The Black Issue” after going to one of the many BLM protests that took place in Los Angeles this Spring. It was so beautiful to see everyone coming together for the good to spark change that I just had to keep that energy going.
In this issue you’ll find features from strong voices in the culture like Toosii, Savannah Cristina and Cashh, plus our cover story on fellow freedom fighter, Descendent. Keep going and you’ll also find a quick Black Business Directory, as well as a “Letter to Black Men”, penned by another influential voice, Fear Coach Demecos.
Now is not the time to passively play defense. What matters now is pushing change, using our voice for good, and continuing to elevate the culture. Because Black Lives Matter, and always have!
