A fresh face in R&B, Annie Tracy blends velvet vocals with minimalist flair

Annie Tracy is on the rise and let us tell you why... With a voice like velvet and a pen that cuts with precision, the North Carolina native is stepping into 2025 with purpose, power and undeniable intentionality. Her seductive, slow burning new single, Accessory, is an anthem that blending stylish lyricism with club-ready soul, setting the stage for her anticipated EP Scared of Heights, arriving June 27th.

Mixing quiet class with confidence, minus the braggadocio, “Accessory” is a study in understated power. It’s Annie’s version of a club banger—stripped of bravado, dripped in elegance. Over full-bodied, R&B-laced production, she redefines what it means to wear someone well. “You’ll be my favorite accessory,” she sings, trading typical designer talk for something more intimate, more mature. In her world, the ultimate statement piece isn’t a Birkin or Bulgari—it’s a real one by your side.

The idea for ‘Accessory’ came to me after locking eyes with my new favorite accessory and trying to visualize what it would look like on me,” Annie explains. “There’s something about walking into the function with that person by your side—it’ll always hit harder than even my best fit.

That visual flair plays out in full force in the single’s video, set against the neon buzz of New York City. Annie floats between fire escapes, corner stores, and downtown streets in full glow-up mode—serving looks and lyrical self-worth. It’s not just about style; it’s about presence. In an industry flooded with flashy visuals, Annie takes it back to basic, offering a lasting impression by keeping it sleek, soulful, and specific to her lane.

From Wilmington to the World

Though Annie hails from Wilmington, North Carolina, her sound travels far passed state lines. Raised on live instrumentation and well-versed in the tradition of storytelling, Annie brings a seasoned touch to R&B. It wasn’t until she stepped out from behind the mic and started writing her own music that things began to fall into alignmnent.

2023 marked her breakthrough, with the release of Times It By Two and the viral favorite Music Taste—two tracks that revealed her gift of making quiet moments feel monumental. With over 6.75 million streams and counting, Annie’s sound began flowing not only through playlists, but thanks to word of mouth, fan edits, and live clips that spread like wildfire on TikTok.

By early 2024, she caught the attention of Grammy-winning producer D’Mile and industry legend Tricky Stewart (whose credits include Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Frank Ocean). Under their mentorship, Annie developed a trilogy of EPs that mapped out her emotional evolution—ACT I, ACT II, and the soon-to-be-released Scared of Heights. Her sound is timeless yet fresh: think early Alicia Keys sensibility with SZA-level honesty and a splash of Solange’s artistic restraint.

One of her most striking tracks to date, Close To You, features none other than R&B legend, Robin Thicke—offering a glimpse into just how respected her pen game is becoming among veterans. But Annie isn’t here for co-signs, shortcuts or trending sounds. She’s been carefully, and quietly, laying the groundwork for a breakthrough that’s rooted in truth, not appearances.

Foundation Over Facade

What sets Annie apart isn’t just her voice—it’s her restraint. Where others over-sing, she lets her tone breathe. Where others flood timelines, she lets the music speak. That calm confidence is what makes “Accessory” feel so sharp. She isn’t screaming to be seen—she already knows she’s worth watching.

Thematically, Annie’s music has always centered around love—romantic, self, and otherwise. From the heart-tugging To Love and Be Loved to the seasonal soul of December (Live), she moves seamlessly between emotions while always staying grounded in her own lived experience.

There’s a clear sense of direction in everything she does—an intentionality that shows up not just in the music, but in the visuals, the branding, and even the fashion. It’s no surprise she’s already landed a collaboration with New Balance and Nordstrom—a fitting partnership for an artist who embodies ease, edge, and elevation all at once.

As the release date for Scared of Heights approaches, one thing is clear: Annie Tracy is building something lasting. She isn’t just chasing streams—she’s crafting a sound, a story, and a presence that’s sure to leave an imprint. And with “Accessory” leading the way, Annie proves she’s not the add-on—she’s the main event.
