So, it was only right to catch up for another Hype Off Life exclusive. Peep game below, as he gets into his fondness for pop-culture references, sexuality in his music and the meaning behind the project's title. Right now and only on Hype Off Life 👊🏾

Thanks for coming thru! What’s been new since we last spoke?

I’ve just been working on new projects. Continuing to push my pen/ creative narrative. I've also been living life and enjoying everything for what it’s worth.

Your pop-culture references are always on point. If you could’ve lived your 20s in any decade, which one would it be?

Between the 90s And 80s. I feel like those two eras were iconic in different ways; I’ve always prided myself on witty/ pop culture references. I’ve watched so many movies and admired so many iconic pop culture moments; it’s natural to add them in my raps.

So, you just dropped a new mixtape, ‘Drugsandotheralternatives.mp3’. What is the meaning behind it's title?

The meaning behind it is different forms of healing/ aiding the healing. I’ve had a few nights of being under influence to process things better. Sometimes how we process things can be healthy or non-healthy. I wanted to speak about mild depression and heartbreak. I also wanted to remind people how nasty the flow/ punchlines are.

The tape features guest verses from Moe Peace and Meaux Bass. How did those collabs come about?

I was on Instagram and I heard a snippet of Moe’s “ Lunch Rush” and instantly fell in love with it. By surprise, he was already familiar with my music and sent the track to me ASAP. It was originally just gonna be a remix but it ended up making the track-list. — Meaux was visiting from LA and I randomly recorded clips of me asking him thought-provoking questions etc. I felt like the fit the project and included them. They both are talented artists and y’all should definitely check out their music!

You reference TLC “No Scrubs” on track #5, “Love Spells & Roommates (Awkward)”. What else is a turnoff for you?

I did but I changed on the last part “ Trying to Fuck on me” meaning trying to get what you want and still be dishonest to me. Liars are a big turn off for me. I need to be able to trust you to have you in my circle.

Have you faced any backlash from being so open with your sexuality in your music?

I haven’t had any backlash. I’ve had lots of people from different spaces tell me how they enjoy my music and skills as an MC. Being open in my music is something I think about from time to time. Because it’s so easier for people to “ Fake it 'til they make it” but I’ve never believed in that. I’m not into illusions or false narratives; this is my music and this is what I gotta say. I commend myself and many others that are open in their music and still spitting that hard shit.

Where do you see your career going in 2020?

Very successful. I do see big meetings in my future and a big take off. I feel like people sleep on me at times. And this year is the wake up.
